Bakeries & cafés in Florence

Gelato and breakfast pastry split the Florence pages almost evenly: 19 of the 43 places sell desserts, most of them gelaterias, and 23 list breakfast, usually the Italian cappuccino-and-cornetto kind. Most sit in the historic centre or just across the Arno. Pastry from other regions and countries is easy to find: Pasticceria Gelateria Baratta on Via di Santo Stefano in Pane makes Sicilian cannoli, cassata and iris, Mò Sì on Via Nazionale serves sfogliatelle alongside its cornetti, and Il Ciccio on Via delle Belle Donne is a Japanese sweet shop with mochi, taiyaki and dango. For something savoury, Schiaccia on Via Toscanella makes sandwiches from 10 AM to 10 PM every day, porchetta among them.
