How to compare ratings and review counts

A rating and its review count answer different questions. The rating summarizes recorded scores; the count tells you how many reviews contributed to the source’s record. Neither confirms today’s service, opening hours or suitability for a particular need.

What is present in this directory?

3,651 of 3,651 profiles have a known rating. 0 have no known rating and are left unscored on their cards.

Why the highest rating may not appear first

The default ordering tempers a rating by review volume and adds a small adjustment when a photo is available. It is a navigation aid rather than a ranking based on visits by our editors. For example, a hypothetical 5.0 from two reviews and 4.5 from one hundred reviews are not equivalent amounts of evidence. This example is illustrative and does not describe a particular business.

Compare the same information side by side

  1. Start with a city and an appropriate category so the alternatives fit your location and purpose.
  2. Read the rating together with the review count. Treat missing information as unknown.
  3. Open the business profile to check its address, available phone number and source link. Confirm time-sensitive details with the business.
  4. Use the source’s current reviews for context before deciding; a directory snapshot can be older.

What the numbers cannot establish

A high rating does not establish dietary suitability, accessibility, price, current availability or verified ownership. Our directory does not convert imported ratings into reviews it has collected itself.
