Bakeries & cafés in Caen

Eighteen of Caen's 24 entries are bakeries. Rue Caponière alone has three, among them Boulangerie Patisserie Persigny, whose reviews single out English bakes such as scones, crumble and pies; Rue Saint-Pierre and Rue Guillaume le Conquérant have two each. Some start very early: Mariatte et Fils Boulangerie on Boulevard Yves Guillou lists 5 AM every day except Tuesday, and Bread Festival on Rue de la Guérinière 5:30 AM, with Wednesday as its day off. The café side is smaller and more varied: two brunch cafés under one name, a vintage clothes shop with a café, and Chez Rose on Rue Porte au Berger, a café and dinner bar serving couscous, tagine and small plates at lunch and in the evening, Tuesday to Saturday. Every bakery that lists a price gives €1–10 per person, while most cafés list €10–20.
